I will be honest with you, up until this year, my blog was just my hobby. It was only during the pandemic and the confinement that I started to take blogging seriously.
Are you asking yourself “Why”?
Because I learned I can turn it into a full-time profitable job.
I will share with you the 7 best and proven ways that successful bloggers are making money with blogging.
Maybe, just like me a few years ago, you are thinking that all famous bloggers are making money from sponsorships and the blog is there just because they need it to have a completed profile, or to be called a “blogger”.
Well, not at all, it is a full-time job, which can really pay you well!
Here is what I will do to turn this blog profitable ASAP, and I hope you will do it to:
I started my blog more that 4 years ago, as a creative outlet for me to write and share my travel experiences.
During this year, I decided to re-brand everything about myself and create an outlet also for other creative people, like me, to help them grow their blog, their online presence, and their audience, in order to let their voice, your voice, be heard! And also, to give you free resources on ways to earn money online. ✨
I hope you as well, like me, want to turn your blog into a full-time business! This is what I want, and so, what I have been doing from March until June, was focusing on building a solid foundation for my blog before monetizing it.
Building the foundation for a blog is super important to developing a “profitable” blog that you can monetize. So, I often suggest developing a strong foundation by creating amazing content filled with ways to help your readers solve a problem and creating a strong brand for your blog that your audience will recognize anywhere online. After that, it’s time to start thinking of ways to make money from your blog.
In this post, I will share some ways I have already started to monetize my blog and how I will continue to do that in the future:
I am excited to share them with you and to help you kick things into gear!
Let’s dive in!
- Create Amazing Content
Great content is the lifeline of your blog and is a must to have a profitable blog. Some factors that are important when writing great content are, helpful posts, with a lot of value, that are at least 1000+ words, posts that motivate your readers to take action and well-written posts with no grammatical errors.
For each of my blog posts, I try to write over 1500+ words and I make sure to add a lot of value that can help my readers grow their blog and online presence, or make extra money online. You want your readers to leave feeling like they gain something new that they can apply to their blog. Ultimately, you want to help your readers solve a problem.
Think about, have you ever read a post and left feeling like you didn’t learn something new? I know I have and if you have too, odds are that you probably didn’t return back to their site or sign up for their email list, right? So, a blog post should be filled with a lot of awesome content.
- Grow Your Audience & Build Trust
Knowing your audience is super important for your blog and online audience. If you don’t know your targeted audience, who will buy your product recommendations, or maybe buy your eBook when you put it up for sale? So, before you think about monetizing your blog make sure that you have an audience (small or big one) and know who they are.
If you aren’t sure who is your targeted audience, think about the type of people you want to attract to your blog. Are you a mom blogger and want to attract moms that are looking to make extra money or are you a personal finance blogger and want to connect with others that want to learn how to save money and get out of debt? Really think about the type of audience you want to connect with and focus your content around them to help them achieve their goals.
- Focus On Your Email List
Another important lifeline of your blog and online audience, is your EMAIL LIST. If you want to connect with your audience on a higher level creating an email list will help with that. Having an email list is also really important if you want to sell products such as Online Courses, eBooks, and Tutorials, or Guides to your audience.
Growing an email list is also a really great way to build trust and relationship with your audience. Your readers can become a part of your tribe and will probably be more likely to buy your new products and support your blog.
- Sign Up For Affiliate Marketing Programs
This was new to me as well. I actually made my first paycheck from blogging using affiliate marketing.
So, what is affiliate marketing? Affiliate Marketing is awesome because you get rewarded for recommending and promoting products and services that you love on your blog. Every time someone signs up or buys a product through your referral link from your site you will receive a commission for that sale.
In the beginning it was difficult to enter the Amazon Associates Program, so I started as an affiliate for ShareASale where I can get referral links for almost all the products and resources that I am currently using, in order that when I recommend them to you, I can link them, and get a small commission if you decide to buy from it. (Please do this if you really like and need that product).
There are some other affiliate programs, where you can start of easy, like Bluehost, Shopify, IGain, but nothing as good as Amazon Associates, and ShareASale.

- Create an e-Book
One of the best ways to make passive income from a blog is by developing an eBook that you can sell to your audience. I still have to work on this.
Please suggest me what would you like to read if I create an eBook to help you with your blog and online presence?
Selling an eBook is really awesome because you don’t have to price them very high. It can be a super helpful guide, with some of your secrets on it, that you price for 1$. All you need is 1000 people a month buying it, and here you have a good chunk of money…
Ok, I am going ahead of myself… I don’t think I have yet this amazing eBook idea to get 1000 people per month to buy it.
But I am working on it!
Tips for when developing an eBook:
- The topic
- The book layout (font size, images, etc)
- Your book cover
- How you will sell the product
- Your book landing page (sale page)
So, if you have an idea and you love to write you can totally create an eBook to teach your audience something amazing. In the process, you will be able to grow your business and generate passive income.
- Design An Online Course That Will Help Your Readers Solve A Problem
If you are passionate about a topic and knowledgeable about it you can totally develop an Online Course for your readers. Online Courses are totally on the rise and are becoming one of the main sources of income for a ton of successful bloggers such as Melyssa Griffin, Kristin Larsen, and Elna Cain.
If you don’t think you can teach anything, let me be first to tell you can totally can. Everybody can teach something even if they just started blogging.
Really focus on what you are strong at and what others ask you for help on your daily life. Those can be starting points to developing your Online Course. I have jumped on the Online Courses ship, and my new course will be launching soon. Woohoo!
Some online platforms that you can develop e-course online for free are Udemy, Skillshare, Teachable and Thinkific.
- Place Ads On Your Site
Another way you can earn passive income monthly is by placing ads on your website. With ads, basically, you get rewarded every time someone comes to your site and click on any of the ads. I am currently planning to jump on with Mediavine ad company after researching a lot between different Ad Platforms, like Google Adsense to use for monetizing your blog.
With Mediavine, you should have at least 25,000 sessions per month which normally equals to at least 35k+ page views per month from your blog. Some of the other ad companies that I have heard great things about are Google Adsense (anyone can join but it takes a while for you to actually make “real” money from this ad company), and Adthrive (you need at least 100,000 monthly pageviews to join this ad company).
So, there you have it, some proved tips and ways to help you monetize your blog!
Do you currently make money with your blog? Is your blog paying for itself?

Thanks I learned a lot here!
I really appreciate your tips. I am new to blogging in the last two months. My head is still spinning from everything you need to know. This is very helpful as I am in the process of working on the understanding what needs to be done to monetize.
Awesome tips, I’m really pushing to grow my audience this year so i can get into affiliate marketing on my blog.
These are some excellent ways to make some money with your blogging efforts. Currently my way of choice is through affiliate marketing and email marketing. I just don’t think that many bloggers realize the power that building their list is going to have in the future.
Yes creating content should be on the top 5 list when it comes to blogging., but most times I see simple mistakes that they are doing on their blog posting that really hinders their list building capabilities.
Hopefully you will have some of your audience focus more on email marketing efforts and cross promotions to the other channels that they have going on.
Great post!
